Geological laboratories

School of geology has several laboratories:

Students of the school of geology conduct their research in a set of equipped laboratories. Many of these laboratories are used for common educational and research purposes.

  • Tectonic
  • Plant fossils
  • Photogeology
  • Geochemistry
  • Mineral separation
  • Economic geology
  • Mineralography
  • Engineering geology
  • Petrography
  • Sedimentology and sedimentary petrology
  • Physical geology
  • Preparing thin sections of rocks and minerals
  • Palinology
  • Stratigraphy and fossils
  • Mineralogy and petrography
  • Fluid inclusion

Laboratory facilities

Some of the most important laboratory tools and equipment in the laboratories of the school of geology include X-ray spectrometer (XRD); SEM; Atomic absorption; measuring the abrasion of drilling tools and Penetration test for indirect estimation of rock strength.
